500EXT 500 Series Extender Kit

Worked as expected

Currently have not tested any products from this company yet with this but it seems to be working well with my Sound Skulptor MU524 kit.

Easy build, recommend this for setup and testing 500 series kits

DIYRe has some of the most beginner/intermediate builder friendly tools/guides on the market. This project is simply one of the easiest on the site with the most difficult part (clamping the connectors on the ribbon) taken care of. Take your time on this to make sure orientation & solder joints are to your liking, altogether shouldn’t take more than 15-20min. Clean up the solder joints & trim before attaching the ribbon to the 500-card receiver side or you’ll risk melting the ribbon with your iron. Overall a great product, was a really snug fit on my RN R6 500 rack, the slots hadn’t been used yet, but still a bit of a push. I think if the male connector to the rack on the PCB had some ears/handle protrusions for getting a good grip to push or really pull from the rack’s card slot would make this a very complete tool. Even without it tho it still is that, very useful & a must for anyone building or using 500-series modules.

simple to assemble, works like a champ! A couple pins on the ribbon cable were bent on mine but dont let that scare you, that's just part of the process sometimes. Just gently straightnen them and you're in there!

Great kit. 10/10. My only observations are I believe the instructions could point out that the female EDAC edge connector installation should be oriented so the numbers align with the card edge orientation. The female connector has 1-15 and A- S cast into the plastic. This is great, if installed with the correct orientation. Also, if the ribbon cable was a little longer, it would provide some additional service space..
