MB2 Stereo Mic Booster Kit
- Full Kit
- Step-by-Step Guide
Get the most out of your ribbon and dynamic mics in the studio or for your podcast. The MB2 is a two-channel inline mic booster with better performance than more expensive competitors.
Boosted performance. Sometimes ribbon and dynamic mics need a little more gain than a typical mic preamp can provide. In these cases the MB2 provides 26dB of extra gain with ultra-low noise and distortion.
The MB2’s high input impedance is optimized to capture the full audio spectrum of ribbon mics without damping the ribbon. And MB2’s buffered, low-impedance outputs are great for driving long cable runs without noise or gain loss.
Superior specs. Don’t be fooled by the low price—the MB2’s premium parts and no-compromise design make for better specs than the leading inline mic boosters.
*Actual gain depends on input impedance of preamp following booster
- Factory-matched LSK170 JFETs
- 26dB of clean gain
- 10k Ohms input impedance is great for ribbon mics
- Gain is the same no matter which preamp the MB2 is paired with
- Lower noise and distortion than other leading mic boosters
- Protects mics from phantom power
- Super-durable enclosure made from architectural aluminum
- Metal-film 1% tolerance resistors
- +48v phantom powered
- Neutrik XLR jacks
- Every nut, bolt, and wire needed to complete the project
- Step-by-step manual
Just do what it does and does it perfectly. Good for dynamic mics but also for passive DI box like the FE2. Easy to build and sounding very quiet and transparent. Thank you !
Great features, super easy to build. Great component quality. Eco friendly packaging.
As always, I am super happy with my DIY RE product. The only downside… lots of people love them and they tend to be often out of stock.
As always a great product
This kit was a breeze to build and sounds great. Paired with my AEA R88 it’s killer!
Been enjoying my MB2 this week with my ribbon mics and my SM7b. The build was fairly easy and only took a cpl hours. Great step-by-step instructions online!
TEST: I did some quick tests vs the competition, and although the MB2 seemed 2-3 dB quieter, it still gives me the extra clean gain I need. I also would feel less confident if someone stepped on an MB2 (compared to the competition), but that's a trade-off for the price.
CONS: Customs/duties through FedEx cost $100 (1/3rd of the overall price!!). I bought two MB2s ($300 CAD plus $100 Duties/Taxes). Canadian Buyers keep that in mind. Still worth the savings vs the competition. Unfortunately, this extra cost might stop me from getting two Color 500 series, or the Colour Duo which I was seriously looking forward to. :(
SHOULD YOU BUY?: I'm happy and looking forward to many sessions with the MB2. If you have some soldering skills and a little time this unit is for you!
Bought a second one.
