The Mass Drivr brings classic American console sound to the Colour format. The circuit is inspired by the Model 325 Line Amplifer used throughout vintage API* recording consoles of the 70's. A custom, steel transformer driven by a discrete opamp adds density and weight to everything that passes through it.

The studios I work in have many API devices that I love and I wanted to get some of that tone for my personal setup. I have two Duo's and own 7 pairs of color modules including the Mass Drivr - immediately when I first ran signal through the Mass Drivr I began to smile at that familiar API tone -it's exactly what I was looking for. Big, punchy but smooth. I love it on everything, couldn't' be more satisfied. Pairs well with the other color modules too and has an insane amount of headroom. Is it a perfect 1:1 with an expensive piece of API gear? No. Is it close enough? Absolutely.
The Mass Drivr adds that touch of harmonic drive to the head of a tracking chain. Push it for a gritty sound, back off for clean.
No Assembly required!
Wasn’t sure what to think about this when I first purchased it. Now I realize why I purchased it, I’ve been using it on my vocal buss with the tape emulation paired with a retro Doublewide and it makes the vocal so thick and creamy. Cuts out any harshness with subtle distortion and makes for an easy mix.
These have a full, elegant punch. Love what they do to acoustic instruments. These have a lot of the "tube sound" that we associate with good vintage gear that has huge transformers, with warm saturation and a hint of compression. I went and bought the Royal Blue colour just based on how great these sound.
this has been filling out tone on lead vocals wonderfully since it arrived! works smashingly on drums and bass as an insert too!
