What the Pros are Saying
"I have [the Primary Colours] in my main mono chain and have it on whenever I want to fatten up the sound some more. It’s really nice to have another option for coloring tracks and the different sounds are useful. Often though I’ll just put all three on. Using them mostly for guitar and synth tracks but I had them on a violin track last week and it made for a nice scratchy, detailed violin track."

"The Colour system is a fascinating example of what can be done with analogue electronics, and produces some great textures. If you have a 500-series with space for another module or two, this is a no-brainer."
"I can't say enough good things about Colour. This product embodies everything Tape Op is about. It's rooted in DIY; it sounds good; and it's inexpensive, novel, fun, and wide open for experimentation. Right on."
TapeOp Magazine #107
"...the whole concept and execution works brilliantly: DIYRE’s Colour platform is a great way to add a little analogue character to your setup, or to dip those first tentative toes into the world of DIY."

Real analog plugins.
Colour is a new format for analog audio gear designed for and by the DIY community. We took our favorite sounding analog circuits and put them on modules that are small, affordable, and swappable.
The Colour format consists of Colours and Palettes:
Colours are ultra-compact, pluggable analog circuit blocks that impart various types of analog color. Check out our ever-growing selection of Colours. Colours can be designed and released by anyone.
These modules are great! Love em. Plugins are great and all.. But I prefer analog tone shaping…. And These are awesome tools. DIYRE’s kits are always well documented, easy to assemble, and well packaged. These are no exception!
The hardware is great and fun to solder. My only problem is that I've created a couple feedback loops trying to run audio from my DAW to the Colour Pallette. Thankfully I was expecting it due to inexperience with out of the box processing. Anyways, it would be nice if there were a couple of tutorials with DAWs like Ableton and Fl Studio.
I've built 2 palette kits and over half a dozen colors. The build is fun and easy and the support docs are great but...the sound is fantastic. I have a LOT of colorful new and vintage gear, including 3 Ampex tape machines. The colors are so flexible and do something I can't get out of any other gear. From delays to saturation, they find their way on to every session.
I love em!
It was a really nice project to build. I love the modular format. It’s very much like playing with guitar effects pedals, but for pro audio. I’ve got more of the colors on the way. Well done, folks.
